Lakewood Middle
November 2025
November is always a busy month at LMS. Girls basketball and boys wrestling are in full swing, and we
have multiple events coming up, designed to have students explore classes and careers that might
interest them.
- On November 3, our eighth grade students will participate in a "pathway fair." Students from Central
will inform students on different classes they can take to complete a pathway while in high school.
- On November 19, our seventh graders will be participating in a career hunt in which employers from
the community will provide hands-on learning experiences for our students.
It is important during this busy time that students and families stay focused on classroom grades.
Students that fail a core class (math, english, reading, science, and social studies) will be required to do
credit recovery during the second semester or attend summer school. This will involve students working in
the afterschool program or during an elective.
We encourage students and guardians to check grades in Skyward routinely. We also encourage guardians
to reach out to teachers or counselors with any questions on how to help your student find success.

Chocolate Fundraiser Reminder:
Chocolate money was due October 1. If you received a letter stapled
to the back of your students' report card at conferences, we need to
collect your money ASAP. These funds help support our students'
needs throughout the year and are critical to our success!
Please email Mr. Mettlen with any questions.
Mr. Mettlen
As we head into Thanksgiving Break (November 24?28), we?re
thankful for our amazing students, families, and staff who help
make every school day count.
Did you know that consistent attendance helps students feel
connected, reduces stress, and builds a sense of belonging?
Every school day offers valuable opportunities to learn, grow, and
connect.
Let?s keep showing up and growing together! If your family or
child needs support, please reach out to your building?s social
worker for assistance.
Great ness Grows When You?re Here, and we can?t wait to see everyone back on Monday,
December 1, 2025.
Thank You!
A special "Thank You!"
to all of the families who donated snacks & drinks for our teachers
during Parent/Teacher Conferences October 15 & 16.
Lakewood S.T.a.R. Achievement Club
3
Lakewood's STaR Achievement Club was created to bring attention to and celebrate the
successes of our Mustang student body. Strong academic achievement, responsible and
safe behavior, and a conscious display of maturity exemplifies what makes a Lakewood
Mustang.
The Basics To Know:
1. To be eligible for a club, your student has an entire quarter (first quarter, second quarter,
third quarter, and fourth quarter). The next quarter is when they receive their incentives.
2. Their eligibility for a club starts over every new quarter.
3. Fourth quarter data will still earn your student a club level but instead of receiving the
predetermined incentives, they will be entered in drawings for the end of the year incentives.
(Due to not seeing them in the summer.)
4. To be eligible for the Mustang or Silver Clubs, your student must participate in a civic
activity. Guidance has been provided to the students and Mr. Mettlen is available for help.
The overall program was discussed in Advisories at the beginning of the school year with
fliers sent home for parents/guardians. Ask your student about the program and take the
opportunity to set goals for the school year with them. If you have more questions, Mr. Emig
is also available.
Mustang Online Store
4
The winter Mustang Online Store through Shirts by Francis will be
re-opened from November 10 to November 24.
Products ordered through the store will be delivered to the school
and distributed to families in time for the holidays.
The store will include the same great items from the first store,
plus new items that weren't available in the first quarter.
