Gifted Testing Timeline

PMES 2025-2026

All students at PMES are given the iReady Reading and Math assessment to determine readiness levels. Students who have a qualifying score of 90th percentile or above are recommended for Gifted Testing. Parent permission letters are sent home.
Students' imaginative nature and creative abilities are assessed along with their desire to work above and beyond. These assessments can take 4-8 weeks to be scored and returned.
Students' mental abilities as it pertains to logic/puzzles/critical thinking are evaluated. This is tested verbally, quantitatively, and nonverbally. Students with certain qualifying scores are placed into the gifted program on the basis of Psychometric Qualifier. No further testing is required .
Any student needing further testing to determine their placement will be able to build a portfolio of work that will showcase their creativity or motivation within the classroom setting. These portfolios will not be made of special pieces, but built simply out of the work already done by the student during the course of their daily classwork.

Once all evaluations are complete, a letter will be sent home with student scores and qualification category. The entire process can take 10-14 weeks in total.
