Hello, KSB families!
We want to take a few minutes to explain what you can expect during Non-Traditional Instruction Days, or NTI Days, at the Kentucky School for the Blind. These days are used when we can't be together on campus—like during bad weather or extended school breaks—but learning still continues from home.

To help your child stay on track, KSB teachers prepare 10 days of lessons that match your child’s learning goals. These lessons may include:Online activities, Hands-on projects, Or real-life skills from the Expanded Core Curriculum. Depending on your child’s needs, they may receive printed materials or use a school device for digital work.

If your child uses printed materials, they’ll bring them home by Labor Day weekend. Please store these materials in a safe place at home for your student and you to access when needed.

If your child uses a device, it will be sent home: when we know inclement weather is coming or before long school breaks.

During NTI Days, teachers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
They will also host two hours of online office hours to answer questions, provide support, or check in with students. Families can request a scheduled appointment at any time during the day.

You’ll hear from your child’s case manager on NTI days. That communication helps track attendance and ensures your child is supported.

Students will be expected to complete the work assigned for each NTI day.
Work can be submitted in different ways, like: orksheets or digital files, notes or journal entries, photos or videos of completed tasks, or a quick message from you verifying what your child worked on.

After we return to in-person learning, your child will have one day to complete work for each NTI day. So if we have three NTI days, students will have three extra days to finish their assignments.
