So we have our school Improvement Council overview. We're going to have our election process for the 2024, 25 officers explained. 85 00:13:28.850 --> 00:13:31.629 Leach, Sonji B: We will then do our title, one overview. 86 00:13:31.730 --> 00:13:46.439 Leach, Sonji B: our Med tech, 7 program overview. I will give a quick principals report, and then, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, we'll go through that, and then we will have our adjournment. 87 00:13:46.700 --> 00:13:49.680 Leach, Sonji B: Anyone not approve of the agenda. 88 00:13:54.240 --> 00:13:58.990 Leach, Sonji B: Okay, so the agenda has been approved. So we will move forward 89 00:13:59.010 --> 00:14:03.719 Leach, Sonji B: next. We're going to have our School Improvement Council overview. 90 00:14:11.110 --> 00:14:15.490 Leach, Sonji B: do you have the slides for that? Or do you want me to just speak from my slides? 91 00:14:17.076 --> 00:14:19.940 0611yolanda: I have this slide. 92 00:14:26.470 --> 00:14:28.399 0611yolanda: and share my screen 93 00:14:30.210 --> 00:14:31.790 0611yolanda: document. 94 00:14:33.410 --> 00:14:35.610 0611yolanda: I had it up. I don't know where it went. 95 00:14:35.860 --> 00:14:37.840 0611yolanda: Oh, there it is! 96 00:14:45.280 --> 00:14:51.679 Leach, Sonji B: All right. So we're going to go through the School Improvement Council overview. 97 00:14:52.670 --> 00:14:54.549 Leach, Sonji B: That is our beautiful school. 98 00:14:59.780 --> 00:15:06.410 Leach, Sonji B: All right. So we are a title, one school and our school goals are 99 00:15:06.560 --> 00:15:14.429 Leach, Sonji B: that we want to increase our English intercourse. English to end, of course, tests. 100 00:15:14.855 --> 00:15:22.569 Leach, Sonji B: Our math algebra test scores our Us history test scores and our biology test scores. We want to improve them 101 00:15:22.720 --> 00:15:28.480 Leach, Sonji B: by percentages each year in order for us to reach our district goal of 102 00:15:28.520 --> 00:15:36.290 Leach, Sonji B: 75, 75, 92, the 75 is for Ela, 75 is for math. And the 92 is for our grad rate. 103 00:15:36.852 --> 00:15:38.330 Leach, Sonji B: We are looking 104 00:15:38.560 --> 00:15:52.290 Leach, Sonji B: to increase our Ela 2%. And that's for the next 5 years. So we're looking to have a 2% increase over the next 5 years to improve our Ela scores to reach that 75 or higher percentage goal. 105 00:15:52.350 --> 00:16:14.099 Leach, Sonji B: We're looking to increase our math by 5% each year over the next 5 years to reach our math goal, 7% each year to reach our biology goal and 3% each year to meet our grad rate of 92%. So those are the goals that we have. Do you have the School Improvement Council information. 106 00:16:17.196 --> 00:16:18.769 0611yolanda: Let's see. 107 00:16:18.980 --> 00:16:20.709 Leach, Sonji B: And if not, I can ask. 108 00:16:22.570 --> 00:16:23.950 0611yolanda: Full improvement. 109 00:16:23.950 --> 00:16:27.439 Leach, Sonji B: I can just speak from mine, if not. 110 00:16:27.890 --> 00:16:31.950 0611yolanda: This, and you're talking about the slides for 111 00:16:34.190 --> 00:16:35.380 0611yolanda: title one. 112 00:16:36.150 --> 00:16:49.660 Leach, Sonji B: No, there was we have a a slide show for School Improvement Council, and I may not have sent that to her, which means. I'll just go over it from from what I have, and just make sure everybody 113 00:16:50.990 --> 00:16:56.729 Leach, Sonji B: understands about School Improvement Council. So let me do that first.st You can keep the title one stuff up. 114 00:16:56.930 --> 00:16:58.619 Leach, Sonji B: But I'm gonna go over. 115 00:16:59.210 --> 00:17:00.369 Leach, Sonji B: Let me get it 116 00:17:03.210 --> 00:17:09.840 Leach, Sonji B: all right. So I'm going to talk to you a little bit about. I want to talk to you about what the School Improvement Council is. 117 00:17:10.497 --> 00:17:25.980 Leach, Sonji B: It is a broad-based community advisory body, focused on goals to improve the school required in every K through 12 public school. By law the School Improvement Council is comprised of parents, teachers, community members, students, administrators, and school leaders. 118 00:17:26.050 --> 00:17:31.079 Leach, Sonji B: The School Improvement Councils in South Carolina were established in State law over 40 years ago. 119 00:17:31.290 --> 00:17:45.210 Leach, Sonji B: and they are intended to provide input and feedback on school strategic improvement plans and updates to assist the school in implementing various improvement activities and to monitor and report on school progress towards improvement goals. 120 00:17:45.410 --> 00:18:05.730 Leach, Sonji B: The school Improvement councils show family community engagement in school and lay the groundwork for student achievement, post-secondary school success, improved student behavior, stronger school home relations and increased support of educators, the School Improvement Councils provide additional insight, unique perspective, and vital assistance. 121 00:18:07.250 --> 00:18:15.639 Leach, Sonji B: we do have to elect parents, one of the 2 of the parents, one parent, will serve as the chair. The other parent will serve as the co-chair. 122 00:18:15.750 --> 00:18:19.729 Leach, Sonji B: We will elect teachers, and we will elect students. 123 00:18:19.770 --> 00:18:43.070 Leach, Sonji B: We appoint community members. And the we have terms set in our bylaws on what I need to do to appoint community members, and then we have the ex officios who, by virtue of position. We are part of the School Improvement Council, and that is our myself, the principal Pto Pta members, parent liaison, and assistant principals. 124 00:18:43.380 --> 00:18:47.319 Leach, Sonji B: and our assistant principal will, they will act in my absence. 125 00:18:47.850 --> 00:18:52.600 Leach, Sonji B: So we will hold elections. On the agenda. 126 00:18:53.350 --> 00:19:00.059 Leach, Sonji B: One of the items that we will discuss is the election process for 2024, 25 officers. 127 00:19:00.210 --> 00:19:14.700 Leach, Sonji B: We will have an election for our parents. We will have a nomination tonight, and then, once I have a nomination, I will put those on a ballot that on a Google form that I will send out or leave open for parents to vote on. 128 00:19:14.770 --> 00:19:33.910 Leach, Sonji B: And once our parents vote. Then we will have our parent officers in place, and we will. I will send out a Google form to all faculty and staff this week for them to elect teacher representatives, and then we will also 129 00:19:34.090 --> 00:19:39.379 Leach, Sonji B: send out something for our students to vote for the student representatives. 130 00:19:39.670 --> 00:19:47.499 Leach, Sonji B: So we will take care of all that this week, and hopefully have everyone in place. By next Wednesday, before we leave for our short week. 131 00:19:49.610 --> 00:19:56.669 Leach, Sonji B: we can have virtual elections if needed, but that was more so provided for when we were not allowed to meet in person. 132 00:19:56.730 --> 00:20:05.880 Leach, Sonji B: Also, the school improvement appointments are community members who are appointed by myself, and intended to be individuals who cannot serve on the School Improvement Council in any other way. 133 00:20:05.970 --> 00:20:14.360 Leach, Sonji B: They can bring resources and ideas. They can lend expertise and perspective, and they can help build broader community support and come from a variety of backgrounds. 134 00:20:14.770 --> 00:20:32.820 Leach, Sonji B: The minimum sic size for high schools is that we have 2 parents, 2 teachers, 2 students, 3 community members, and one, and then, of course, the principal. But you can have more. The statute does not limit the school improvement size, but it does have a minimum number. 135 00:20:33.010 --> 00:20:47.640 Leach, Sonji B: The School Improvement Council should reflect the size and diversity of their schools, but not be so large to become unwelldy and not everyone helping the School Improvement Council needs to be a member. Anyone interested can attend the school Improvement meetings 136 00:20:49.550 --> 00:20:54.869 Leach, Sonji B: and serve on the School Improvement Committees and help with the School Improvement Council initiatives. 137 00:20:55.110 --> 00:21:08.459 Leach, Sonji B: So we will start. We, the only positions we have for School Improvement Council are our chair, vice chair, and secretary. So we will have. We must have at least 138 00:21:11.910 --> 00:21:15.530 Leach, Sonji B: we must have at least 8 meetings per year. 139 00:21:16.136 --> 00:21:27.090 Leach, Sonji B: And the we will make. I'll make sure that each member gets the School Improvement Council Handbook, the Bylaws and our School Improvement Plan. 140 00:21:28.400 --> 00:21:40.470 Leach, Sonji B: also an effective School Improvement Council meeting includes that the chair runs it normally, and in this case our chair is not present, so I am running it for her. 141 00:21:40.490 --> 00:21:53.460 Leach, Sonji B: The approval of prior meeting minutes, which we don't have any update from the principal committee reports, work, session and or guest speakers and look toward next steps. All School Improvement Council members are actively engaged 142 00:21:53.490 --> 00:22:19.490 Leach, Sonji B: again. So for our member, our officers, the chair develops the agenda with me. They ensure the meeting. Notices and material are circulated in advance of the meeting, and they run the meeting and coordinate discussions. The vice chair assist and acts in absence of the chair, and then the secretary takes notes, distribute minutes and maintains the School Improvement Council records. The principal provides reports and other information. 143 00:22:21.132 --> 00:22:29.339 Leach, Sonji B: Let's see, for virtual we can function during well, that was, for during Covid. 144 00:22:29.580 --> 00:22:52.459 Leach, Sonji B: also, the School Improvement Council is considered public bodies as defined by the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act. All School Improvement Council meetings are open to the public. I am not 184 00:27:23.810 --> 00:27:26.809 Daffney Bing: I can't because of my duties. I have right now. 185 00:27:27.110 --> 00:27:29.759 Daffney Bing: but I do want to be involved. 186 00:27:30.440 --> 00:27:31.190 Leach, Sonji B: Okay. 187 00:27:32.010 --> 00:27:38.489 Leach, Sonji B: miss. Smalls Jenkins, are you interested in serving? Is, did she? No, she's still here. 188 00:27:40.440 --> 00:27:50.989 Carol G Smalls-Jenkins: I am overwhelmed with personal duties, taking care of my mother. That takes care takes most of my time, so I'm overwhelmed. But I'll be glad to assist in whatever way I can. 189 00:27:51.830 --> 00:27:52.659 Leach, Sonji B: Catch it. 190 00:27:55.660 --> 00:28:00.470 Leach, Sonji B: Anyone else. Does anyone nominate anyone who may not be on here? 191 00:28:02.980 --> 00:28:06.419 Leach, Sonji B: Alright. So what I'll do is I'm going to put the link 192 00:28:06.530 --> 00:28:31.910 Leach, Sonji B: at. I'm going to thank you, Miss Crystal. I'm going to put the link on our website, and I will also push the information out to our parents to see if I can get some parents. Of course I'll probably have to make some phone calls and see who I can get to possibly agree to be on the ballot for our co-chair and our secretary. We do have the one nomination of Miss Gilbert for 193 00:28:31.920 --> 00:28:33.840 Leach, Sonji B: the chair. 194 00:28:35.160 --> 00:28:37.199 Leach, Sonji B: so we'll we'll move forward. 195 00:28:37.640 --> 00:28:41.660 Tacara: I did have a question, would the would the meetings be like around this time? 196 00:28:42.340 --> 00:29:03.139 Leach, Sonji B: So the President, I keep saying, President, the chair of the School Improvement Council will determine when the meetings will be, and the chair usually consults with other parents to see when the best time day and time is, and we try to make that consistent. So I think last year I think they had like the 3rd Monday or 1st Monday 197 00:29:03.200 --> 00:29:09.301 Leach, Sonji B: of every month, I think at 5 30. So it's it's strictly up to the parents as to 198 00:29:09.700 --> 00:29:13.119 Leach, Sonji B: when when you would like to have those meetings? 199 00:29:20.750 --> 00:29:22.420 Leach, Sonji B: Does that answer your question? 200 00:29:26.330 --> 00:29:27.960 Tacara: Oh, yes, ma'am, thank you. 201 00:29:28.240 --> 00:29:29.120 Leach, Sonji B: You're welcome. 202 00:29:29.300 --> 00:29:47.040 Leach, Sonji B: Okay? So that's what I will do for our elections. I will send out a link, and hopefully we will get some some takers for those positions, and then we will finalize that it will be posted for the remainder of this week through next Tuesday. 203 00:29:47.477 --> 00:30:01.430 Leach, Sonji B: I will stop the nomination process next Tuesday. So what I'll do is 1st see what parents are willing to serve, and then I'll put their names on the ballot and send out for everyone to vote for. 204 00:30:01.450 --> 00:30:12.340 Leach, Sonji B: and we will stop the voting by next Tuesday, and once it's finalized they will become official officers for the School Improvement Council, which will be updated. 205 00:30:12.400 --> 00:30:24.159 Leach, Sonji B: Okay, Mr. Carr. Yes, thank you. Mr. Carr is willing to serve Miss Takar. Would you please put your 1st and last name in the chat, so we'll we'll have it for the record, and when we put it on the ballot. 206 00:30:24.620 --> 00:30:25.770 Leach, Sonji B: thank you 207 00:30:31.110 --> 00:30:35.520 Leach, Sonji B: alright, and so I like, I said, I will find a parent to serve 208 00:30:35.610 --> 00:30:36.360 Leach, Sonji B: Miss. 209 00:30:38.120 --> 00:30:49.639 Leach, Sonji B: Miss Gilbert, if you know of a parent of a child who goes here, who, you know, would be willing to you, work well with who would be willing to serve as your chair in your absence. 210 00:30:49.660 --> 00:31:05.040 Leach, Sonji B: If you can give me that person's name, I'll reach out to them to see if they would be willing to serve. And if that's the case, then I would just only need that name, and I would put those 3 names on the ballot to send out for parents to vote on. 211 00:31:05.180 --> 00:31:07.749 Leach, Sonji B: Do you? Can you think of anybody, Miss Gilbert? 212 00:31:09.400 --> 00:31:13.299 Gilbert, Catia S: My dear friend. Daphne said no, so I don't have anybody. 213 00:31:13.300 --> 00:31:14.320 Leach, Sonji B: Okay. 214 00:31:14.340 --> 00:31:15.400 Leach, Sonji B: All right. 215 00:31:15.400 --> 00:31:18.316 Gilbert, Catia S: I will think about it. Thank you for the 216 00:31:19.270 --> 00:31:21.700 Leach, Sonji B: Okay, thank you, Miss Gilbert. 217 00:31:22.080 --> 00:31:22.460 Gilbert, Catia S: You. 218 00:31:23.800 --> 00:31:27.910 Leach, Sonji B: Thank you so much, Ms Smalls, because I know you have to go. I do appreciate it. 219 00:31:28.770 --> 00:31:29.530 Carol G Smalls-Jenkins: Thank you. 220 00:31:29.810 --> 00:31:30.690 Carol G Smalls-Jenkins: Good night. 221 00:31:31.100 --> 00:31:32.040 Leach, Sonji B: Good night. 222 00:31:33.190 --> 00:31:39.860 Leach, Sonji B: Alright, Miss Daphne, if you change your mind, let me know, because you would be working with Miss Gilbert, and y'all would tag team. So 223 00:31:39.910 --> 00:31:59.580 Leach, Sonji B: we and it. The meetings are only the only time consuming piece. And it's not really is building the agenda, and I would work with your schedule to create whatever things need to be created for our School Improvement Council to function. So let me know. 224 00:32:04.090 --> 00:32:10.040 Leach, Sonji B: Alright. So does anyone have any questions about the election process. 225 00:32:12.920 --> 00:32:29.719 Leach, Sonji B: Alrighty. So we're going to move forward on the agenda. And now we will have our title. One overview. Ms. Anderson Miles will pull back up the title. One overviews Powerpoint, that we will go over right now. 226 00:32:31.200 --> 00:32:33.269 Leach, Sonji B: All right again. That's our beautiful school. 227 00:32:49.240 --> 00:32:51.939 Leach, Sonji B: Okay, we're going to do our title, one overview 228 00:32:52.640 --> 00:33:14.239 Leach, Sonji B: again, title one school. We're school. That is title one, because we serve students who we have a high population of students who are economically disadvantaged and receive either free or reduced lunch. The funds are, we get Federal funding for our being a title? One school 229 00:33:14.380 --> 00:33:25.099 Leach, Sonji B: I mentioned our school goals earlier that we are also our goals are aligned to the district goals of having 75% Ela Pass 230 00:33:25.530 --> 00:33:45.429 Leach, Sonji B: pass of students having a C or better grade on intercourse and 75 on math and English, and to have a 92% grad rate within the next 5 years. So we have added percentages to our current our 2324 231 00:33:45.440 --> 00:33:51.489 Leach, Sonji B: test scores to make sure that in 5 years we will reach the district goals or exceed 232 00:33:52.320 --> 00:34:03.610 Leach, Sonji B: title. One is the largest Federal assistance program for our nation's schools. It is designed to provide our children significant opportunities to receive a fair, equitable, and high quality education and to close educational achievement gaps. 233 00:34:03.690 --> 00:34:11.369 Leach, Sonji B: The program serves millions of children in elementary and secondary schools each year, and there are currently 18 title I schools in Beaufort county school district. 234 00:34:11.510 --> 00:34:16.779 Leach, Sonji B: These are the title, One schools, our cluster. All of our cluster schools are title, one schools. 235 00:34:18.710 --> 00:34:32.090 Leach, Sonji B: The Federal Government provides funding to States based on census and poverty data each year for title one. The South Carolina Department of Education sends the money to the local school districts, and the school district identifies eligible eligible school, based 236 00:34:32.130 --> 00:34:37.029 Leach, Sonji B: off of their percentage of pupils in poverty, and provides a title. I allocation. 237 00:34:38.880 --> 00:35:04.959 Leach, Sonji B: All title one schools in the Beaufort County School district implement, a school wide program, and in a school wide program a school may use title, one funds to implement reforms, to upgrade the entire educational program of the school. The 3 requirements of a title, one schoolwide program and school must conduct a comprehensive needs. Assessment through a broad range of stakeholders, create a comprehensive school renewal plan that describes how the school will improve academic achievement throughout the school. 238 00:35:04.960 --> 00:35:22.729 Leach, Sonji B: and they must have annual. They must annually evaluate the schoolwide plan to determine if the schoolwide program has been effective in addressing the major problem areas and in turn increasing student achievement, particularly for the lowest achieving students and schools must must revise the plan as necessary. 239 00:35:24.660 --> 00:35:33.149 Leach, Sonji B: Each parent has a school advisory committee composed of parents, teachers, and other staff that work with the school and community representative, which is our School Improvement Council. 240 00:35:33.190 --> 00:35:53.090 Leach, Sonji B: and in Beaufort County School district the School Improvement Council serves as the school advisory committee. A comprehensive school, a comprehensive needs. Assessment is completed each year the goals are developed for the school year, and a school renewal plan is written. The School Improvement Council approves the title, one budget for the school, which is a funding source to support the school renewal plan. 241 00:35:54.710 --> 00:36:00.190 Leach, Sonji B: Each school has a school. No. Did that one. Okay, so these are goals that would develop 242 00:36:00.660 --> 00:36:03.799 Leach, Sonji B: can. Yeah. So oh. 243 00:36:03.990 --> 00:36:05.410 Leach, Sonji B: all right, bag it up 244 00:36:06.170 --> 00:36:33.539 Leach, Sonji B: all right. Those are goals, I know. It may be hard to see. But again, our goals that we created are based on reaching our 75, 75, 92 by the end, within the next 5 years, and these scores will be shown on our school report card each year you'll be able to see if we're reaching our goals, and we will monitor our goals throughout the year to determine if we need to do anything different to try to reach those goals. 245 00:36:35.750 --> 00:36:45.899 Leach, Sonji B: Title one activities are posted to the school's website. These are some of the title, one activities that actually, this is more. This is our sal, our budget. 246 00:36:45.990 --> 00:37:04.520 Leach, Sonji B: We do have a budget. This is the budget total for this year. We see we have 93,000 that was allocated for salaries, the salaries that we use, the funds for this year. We have some teachers that are paid out of that. We also have 2 instructional coaches that are being paid out of that. 247 00:37:04.920 --> 00:37:08.259 Leach, Sonji B: The next amount to 43,000 is for 248 00:37:08.270 --> 00:37:13.320 Leach, Sonji B: the budget. And I mean it's for their benefits. 249 00:37:13.370 --> 00:37:36.010 Leach, Sonji B: So this is what our school report card will look like. Our data right now is embargoed. This was the 2223 score that score actually went up last year, and it's definitely looking better for last year. It hasn't been released yet. So once it is, we will be sharing our school performance for our school. From our school report card. For this year. 250 00:37:36.540 --> 00:37:48.060 Leach, Sonji B: our school curriculum. We have our early college program, our medtech 7 and steam. We have English textbooks, math textbooks, science textbooks and social studies and history textbooks. 251 00:37:48.710 --> 00:37:54.660 0611yolanda: And all of these are just links that goes to the website. And then it goes to these particular 252 00:37:55.098 --> 00:37:58.369 0611yolanda: subject textbooks that we use at our school. 253 00:37:59.300 --> 00:38:20.789 Leach, Sonji B: And again, parents, all of this stuff is posted because you have the right to know which is one of our title. One components is that parents have the right to know what we're doing, basically in every area. So anything that we're doing, we try to make sure it's posted for you to provide input on or give suggestions for 254 00:38:20.820 --> 00:38:27.360 Leach, Sonji B: our family, parent and family engagement. The title, one law requires that all title, one schools and families work together. 255 00:38:27.420 --> 00:38:44.220 Leach, Sonji B: We did also use our funds to create a parent engagement facilitator position. That is what Ms. Holmes does. I'm going to let Miss Holmes speak about the parent resource center that we created. Part of the budget with the 272 00:41:25.060 --> 00:41:28.379 0611yolanda: allocate funds with the parent engagement program. 273 00:41:28.570 --> 00:41:54.030 Leach, Sonji B: Okay. So again. And I know that may be small. But don't worry about it. We tonight we're not going to go in depth with the budget. When we have our in person meeting, I will provide every attendee with the budget for them to review and provide suggestions or comments about as far as the use, because again, parents, you have the right to give suggestions on how you feel. The money should be used. 274 00:41:54.090 --> 00:42:01.369 Leach, Sonji B: so each one title, one. Schools are required to provide certain notifications to parents. Parents may request regular meetings to express opinions and concerns. 275 00:42:01.380 --> 00:42:20.419 Leach, Sonji B: We do have annual parent conferences that are required. Also, we have parents that parents, you must be provided information on your child's level of achievement, on local and state assessments. We will always have that available parents. The key is that you are your child's first, st as far as parent to school. You are your child's 1st teacher. You can influence your child's education more than any teacher or school, and you can choose to volunteer in your child's classroom or participate in other ways, such as committee members. And you know your child best. So we ask that you be actively engaged, and you check on your child's academic progress here at the school 278 00:43:06.190 --> 00:43:13.530 Leach, Sonji B: simple ways to support your child's education. Those are here. Share, read, ask, limit, take, ask review, praise, and encourage 279 00:43:15.710 --> 00:43:27.359 Leach, Sonji B: simple ways to know your school, and communicate with teachers by attending events, visiting the school, volunteering in the school, joining organizations, keeping your teachers informed of things that may be going on outside of school. 280 00:43:27.390 --> 00:43:38.990 Leach, Sonji B: and being engaged in talking with your child about their schoolwork and their behavior, and reflecting on the responsibilities that you have as a parent to the school in the parent school compact 281 00:43:41.830 --> 00:44:05.340 Leach, Sonji B: parents, you may provide suggestion complaints through your website through our website or scanning the QR code that's displayed in our school to access the Warrior civility survey, or by email. And now we will allow Miss Appleby and Miss Doctor to do an overview the next. We are a Med. Tech 7 program and I am learning. I. We Miss Appleby, did an outstanding professional learning community session today with our teachers. 284 00:44:29.580 --> 00:44:47.380 Leach, Sonji B: I'm learning the lingo and the language of talking about parents, about our our school, letting them know what a med tech 7 school is, but I'm still not proficient enough to feel comfortable doing the whole thing. So I'm going to let Miss Appleby and Miss Doctor take over. 285 00:44:50.330 --> 00:44:51.770 Dee Appleby: You want me to. 286 00:44:54.090 --> 00:44:58.600 Dee Appleby: I'll head up. My contact information. 331 00:49:54.670 --> 00:50:18.110 Doctor, Lakeshia: Alrighty, and I'll just talk a little bit about some of the things that we implement at Will Branch early college high School to introduce our students to the Med Tech 7 and different things that they participate in. One of the things that we just had was the stem day. We had 2 days of stem where we had a representative from the Governance school. Come and show how 332 00:50:18.740 --> 00:50:38.540 Doctor, Lakeshia: science, technology and math is integrated into the to biology. So it was very interesting. And the kids actually enjoyed it was a hands-on project that they did for 2 days. We do also have a open house. We had a Med tech night there, where the different cte teachers were introduced to their 333 00:50:38.690 --> 00:51:05.630 Doctor, Lakeshia: they could introduce the students and parents to the different pathways that we offer. I also work with the students and the school counselors in terms of providing internships for our students that want to go out in the field and some of the things that will be forthcoming. We have our career day where they're also introduced to the different stem programs. We do have a 334 00:51:05.800 --> 00:51:23.419 Doctor, Lakeshia: a pathway where we're going to have different careers in stem. It's going to be a sort of like a Ted Talk. So that's going to be a Zoom Meeting for all the students in the school. We are also going to have a stem Cta showcase night something that we're working on now that's going to be forthcoming. 335 00:51:23.420 --> 00:51:38.240 Doctor, Lakeshia: So those are some of the things that we have. The students are excited about it because they are finding out ways and the importance of them having stem in their everyday curriculum. So those are just some of the things that we are doing, and that's forthcoming at Will Branch. 336 00:51:39.090 --> 00:51:52.640 Leach, Sonji B: We also are starting our media technology program where our students will actually be broadcasting the news of things that are going on around the school. Go ahead. Ms. Appleby. 337 00:51:53.240 --> 00:52:07.910 Dee Appleby: And that leave. Thank you. I was going to say that you had actually also brought an esports opportunity to well ranch early college high school. So we are setting up an esports lab, equipped with all the the stuff for students to learn 338 00:52:07.940 --> 00:52:15.089 Dee Appleby: gaming and gaming in the professional way as well as working on coding and computer science skill sets. 339 00:52:15.170 --> 00:52:22.239 Dee Appleby: So look forward to that. It should be around the corner soon, hopefully, before December, and it'll be a great club to have students in. 340 00:52:25.070 --> 00:52:26.630 Leach, Sonji B: Thank you so much. Ms apple 341 00:52:26.870 --> 00:52:44.849 Leach, Sonji B: be. And, Miss Doctor, I appreciate you. Taking the time to explain the medtech 7 program. We will continue to highlight our efforts and and everything that we're doing with the Medtech 7 program. Now on the agenda, I'm going to quickly go through my principal report. This is a new school year for us. 342 00:52:44.940 --> 00:52:55.140 Leach, Sonji B: Just real quickly. Want to give my vision for my vision. For well, Branch, early college high school, which is just to continue to improve instruction 343 00:52:55.140 --> 00:53:15.329 Leach, Sonji B: and improve supervision, because I do feel that instruction and supervision are the 2 areas that if we tighten it up and make sure it's effective. And we're doing. We're supposed to that. They work well together to make sure that a school excels academically and is very safe. And building those relationships. So 344 00:53:15.480 --> 00:53:31.270 Leach, Sonji B: I focus a lot on instruction working with the my assistant principals, instructional coaches to work with our teachers to improve instruction and working with them on effective building those relationships to help with supervising students. 345 00:53:31.530 --> 00:53:50.700 Leach, Sonji B: This year. Again, we can you go back. We do have 100%. We are fully staffed, which is awesome. We do have our 2 new instructional coaches. And they one focuses and on focuses on this, actually, one is doing math and science, and the other is doing social studies in English. 346 00:53:50.790 --> 00:54:04.030 Leach, Sonji B: We do have a newly formed leadership team with administrators, instructional team and lead teachers. Our focus areas. Again, as I stated, are building relationships, instructional routines in the warrior time instructional framework. 347 00:54:06.350 --> 00:54:35.550 Leach, Sonji B: We do have principal meetings with our cluster area schools. I actually was on the phone with both principals. I work very closely with the elementary school. Well, branch, elementary school and middle school principals, and we collaborate to ensure that things that we're doing are aligned so that our students are getting it from the earlier grades all the way up to even the post-secondary options that we provide here at Well Branch, early college high School. We do have the Tcl program. Here. We partner with them. 348 00:54:35.550 --> 00:54:53.409 Leach, Sonji B: We partner with the Beaufort tides program, our 8th grade students who do not have an 8th grade math teacher right now. They are bused over here in the evenings at 4th period, and they come. And Mr. Bervinez teaches the 8th grade students algebra here on our campus, and that has been wonderful. 349 00:54:55.569 --> 00:55:07.430 Leach, Sonji B: We are. We have on time graduation data. We are looking at, making sure that our students graduate on time. That is a focus every day, just just encouraging students to complete all of their work 350 00:55:07.440 --> 00:55:31.090 Leach, Sonji B: so that they can pass their classes and graduate on time. We do focus on academics, attendance, and discipline. When we notice our students are not where they need to be academically, behaviorally, or if they're missing a lot of days, they will be on a behavior contract or an attendance contract or an academic contract, and we will set goals and work with them daily and weekly to help them improve in those areas. 351 00:55:31.270 --> 00:55:56.609 Leach, Sonji B: We are aggressively working hard to achieve an excellence on our school report card right now. We're hoping to move up from average to good, which would be a great step in the right direction. We did have a wonderful open house. On September 12th we had a record number of parents and students to attend. We also hosted a community food drive on September 20, th and we served over 250 community persons. 352 00:55:58.400 --> 00:56:08.179 Leach, Sonji B: We hosted a blood drive on the 26, th and we did reach our goal. We have a ladies 1st and warrior gentlemen's club that serves our female and male students. Here 353 00:56:08.190 --> 00:56:16.349 Leach, Sonji B: they did go to see a movie, the movie, The Forge. And after that they had some interactive discussion to talk about that. 354 00:56:16.380 --> 00:56:29.230 Leach, Sonji B: We also hosted a freshman orientation where we had over 50 students to attend, and we have been hosting voter registration drives here, at all events, that we have. 355 00:56:31.160 --> 00:56:47.629 Leach, Sonji B: And to highlight our. I always also like to highlight our athletic program, currently our football team. They are in session, our tennis team. I'm so proud of our girls. We have tennis players who've never 356 00:56:47.630 --> 00:57:03.429 Leach, Sonji B: played tennis before, and they are competing, and it is an awesome thing to see. Volleyball team is doing very well. Cross country is is also doing well, so I want to highlight them for their efforts in representing well, Branch, early college high school. Very well. 357 00:57:03.440 --> 00:57:20.649 Leach, Sonji B: and we had a wonderful successful homecoming week that went very well, and we are going to continue to find ways to just just promote our students and their academics and promote our teachers for the great work they're doing. 358 00:57:21.570 --> 00:57:33.210 Leach, Sonji B: All right. I believe that's it. Parents, teachers, guests, community members. I'm glad she did, because I finally saw Russell pop up, and I did want to acknowledge her. She is our wonderful teacher of the year, and we are so happy to have her. She will be one of our teacher representatives. I think she's the ex officio member. 363 00:58:10.130 --> 00:58:19.819 Leach, Sonji B: Yeah, she's ex officio member who will be a part of the School Improvement Council each time we meet. So thank you, Miss Russell. She's an awesome teacher as well. 364 00:58:20.560 --> 00:58:21.246 Russell: Thank you. 365 00:58:22.620 --> 00:58:24.240 Leach, Sonji B: Alright. 366 00:58:28.190 --> 00:58:49.710 Leach, Sonji B: so does does anyone else have anything they want to say again.
