Special Meeting Poland Board of Education held July 9, 2018 A special meeting of the Poland Board of Education was held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Board Office. President, Mrs. Zedaker called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance Members present for roll call and answering their names were Dr. Dinopoulos, Mr. Riddle, Mr. Shovlin and Mrs. Zedaker. Absent: Mr. Lavorini. Approval of Certificated Transfer – Resolution #2018-154 Dr. Dinopoulos moved and Mr. Shovlin seconded with Mr. Riddle and Mrs. Zedaker voting aye to approve the transfer of the following certificated personnel for the 2018-19 school year. Absent: Mr. Lavorini. Mary Hernon – Intervention Specialist from McKinley to Union Approval of School Psychologist – Resolution #2018-155 Dr. Dinopoulos moved and Mr. Riddle seconded with Mr. Shovlin and Mrs. Zedaker voting aye to approve Sarah Scarazzo as School Psychologist for the 2018-2019 school year. This Certificated Administrative Specialist contract will begin August 1, 2018. This individual will be under a shared service agreement with Boardman Local Schools, split three (3) days per week at Boardman Local and two (2) days per week at Poland Local. The Boardman Schools will be billed for 3/5 of all salary and fringe benefits. Said contract shall be for 194 days. Absent: Mr. Lavorini. Approval of Bus Drive Project – Resolution #2018-156 Mr. Riddle moved and Dr. Dinopoulos seconded with Mr. Shovlin and Mrs. Zedaker voting aye to approve the project for the bus drive at the Middle School/McKinley site as presented. Absent: Mr. Lavorini. Authorization to enter into Paving Contract – Resolution #2018-157 Dr. Dinopoulos moved and Mr. Riddle seconded with Mr. Shovlin and Mrs. Zedaker voting aye to authorize the Superintendent, Board President and Treasurer to enter into a paving contract for the bus drive at the Middle School/McKinley site to the contractor deemed most appropriate upon submission of the plans and specifications for the new bus lane. Absent: Mr. Lavorini. Approval to Purchase Two 2019 School Buses – Resolution #2018-158 Mr. Riddle moved and Dr. Dinopoulos seconded with Mr. Shovlin and Mrs. Zedaker voting aye to approve the purchase of two (2) new 2019 School Buses complete with installed REI camera systems and crossing gates, as per attached bus specifications. The quote from Rush Truck Center is part of the Ohio Schools Council (State Purchasing Program). Two buses # 9 and bus #20 will be reduced from the fleet. Absent: Mr. Lavorini Approve Employment Assistant Principal/Dean of Students – Resolution #2018-159 Mr. Riddle moved and Mr. Shovlin seconded with Dr. Dinopoulos and Mrs. Zedaker voting aye to approve the employment of Edward Ashcroft as Assistant Principal/Dean of Students for McKinley Elementary/Poland Middle School under a one-year contract for the 2018-2019 school year. Said contract shall be for 195 days. Absent: Mr. Lavorini Informational Items - Easement - County Engineer is requesting an easement at the high school property. Mr. Janofa explained their request and provided a map of the suggested easement. - Raptor System – Mr. Janofa discussed the Raptor System which is currently being installed and how it will work. The system if being partially funded through a safety rebate received from the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.
