Work Session Poland Board of Education held April 19, 2021 A Work Session of the Poland Board of Education was held on Monday, April 19, 2021, at 6:00 p.m., in the Dobbins Board Room, 3030 Dobbins Road. President, Mr. Riddle called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance Members present for roll call and answering their names were Ms. Colucci, Dr. Dinopoulos, Mr. Polis, Mr. Riddle, and Mr. Warren. - All Here. Treasurer - Janet Muntean * Life Renewal Ð Treasurer Muntean provided the Board with information regarding the upcoming life insurance renewal with Anthem. Several quotes were obtained and the results indicate a significant savings to the district by switching to Grady Benefits, a preferred vendor through Ohio Schools Council. Treasurer Muntean will be recommending utilizing Grady Benefits effective July 1, 2021. * Insurance Renewal Ð Treasurer Muntean reminded the Board that the districtÕs Commercial Insurance Coverage expires June 30, 2021 and more information will be forthcoming. * Industrial Appraisal Company ((IAC) Ð Treasurer Muntean explained that the districtÕs last appraisal of our buildings for insurance valuation purposes was in 2007. Treasurer Muntean is recommending the district properties be appraised; however, the district building contents such as equipment be addressed after the district realignment/consolidation phases are completed. * Fast Track Auction Ð Treasurer Muntean provided an update on the recently completed on-line auction. There were 200 items available for public bid, 187 of the items contained a bid. The bidding began on April 6, 2021 and ended at 9:00 p.m. on April 14, 2021. Buyer pick up was Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Unofficial gross proceeds are approximately $26,000. COVID Reporting - Dr. Holland * Dr. Holland updated the Board on the following COVID related items. - Possible opportunity to develop a clinic for 16, 17 and 18 year oldÕs to be vaccinated. Parent consent would be required. -The district is concentrating on in person learning in the fall. -A slight upward trend in positive cases is being recognized. Possibly as a result of Easter gatherings. -The district continues to monitor social distancing and cleaning protocols. DISCUSSION/UPDATES: * Upcoming Levy Renewals November 2021 Ð Two (2) upcoming renewals for November ballot. 1st resolution to certify millage will be in May; and the 2nd resolution in June. * Updated Forging the BulldogÕs Future Plan - An updated Forging the BulldogÕs Future Plan was presented and discussed. The new plan indicates actual costs in prior years and estimated costs in future years. The updated plan will be available on the district website. Mr. Zura reported 20 currently on livestream. * North Elementary Property Ð Discussion was held regarding upcoming resolution to move forward to have North building torn down. Dr. Holland reported that different groups are researching if they can obtain funding to re-purpose the building. Dr. Holland is recommending to start this process. Further discussion took place regarding the North property playground. * Poland Village Walking Trail Ð Dr. Holland reported that the Village of Poland is seeking funds through Ohio Department of Natural Resources to put in a walking track. The school property crosses over creek bed, approximately 20 feet wide. Village interested in this small piece of land in order to move forward with grant funding with the state. * Camp Fitch Ð Dr. Holland explained a one (1) day Camp Fitch experience is being planned. * Job Descriptions Ð Dr. Holland reviewed multiple changes to job descriptions due to district restructuring. * Sample Resolution for Graduation Ð Dr. Holland explained graduation requirements due to pandemic have occurred and the district is staying abreast of these changes. PO#8451 - Revised Pediculosis (Head Lice) At 7:11 p.m. Mr. Polis moved and Ms. Colucci seconded with all members signaling aye to enter into Executive Session to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation of a public employee or official; and conference with the BoardÕs attorney to discuss matters which are the subject of pending or imminent court action.
