Work Session Poland Board of Education held April 15, 2019 A work session of the Poland Board of Education was held on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Poland Seminary High School Cafeteria. The work session was moved to this location due to limited power at the Poland Middle School Connector. President, Mr. Lavorini called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance Members present for roll call and answering their names were Dr. Dinopoulos, Mr. Lavorini, Mr. Riddle, Mr. Shovlin and Mrs. Zedaker. Information * Community Engagement Contract – Mr. Janofa provided information on the potential agreement for Marketing Liaison services for the upcoming school year. * Building/Facilities Update- Mr. Janofa discussed the Draft of Proposal for Dobbins renovation. * Invitation to Retirees – Mr. Janofa explained all retirees will be recognized at the May 20, 2019 Regular Board of Education meeting. * Recognition for Outstanding Staff – Both Jodi West and Brian Banfield will also be recognized at the May 20, 2019 Regular Board of Education meeting. As listed below: - Hall of Fame Inductee – Jodi West - NEOIAAA – Meritorious Service Award to Brian Banfield * Final Forms – Mr. Janofa explained the district website is currently being transformed in order to be ADA compliant. Also, the service of final forms is currently being negotiated. Final Forms will allow all district required forms to be downloaded and completed one time and then only updated if necessary thereafter. Discussion * Refinance – Treasurer Muntean provided the Board with current debt information, along with options to refinance and/or obtain new funds for upcoming district projects. A lengthy discussion was held and at the current time, the majority consensus is to explore the refinance portion only. Treasurer Muntean will follow up with the Board as soon as more information is available. At 7:00 p.m., Mrs. Zedaker moved and Dr. Dinopoulos seconded with all members present signaling aye to enter into Executive Session to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or official.
