Work Session Poland Board of Education held September 14, 2020 A Work Session of the Poland Board of Education was held on Monday, September 14, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. President, Mr. Riddle called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance Members present for roll call and answering their names were Ms. Colucci, Dr. Dinopoulos, Mr. Polis, Mr. Riddle and Mr. Warren ACADEMICS - Mr. Janofa, Superintendent ¥ ? First Week of School Update-Building Administrators Ð Mr. Snyder, Mr. Daley, Mr. Purins, Mrs. Iberis and Mr. Masucci all gave updates on the first week of school in their respective buildings. The Administrators expressed how incredible our students, staff and parents are and thanked everyone for their patience and understanding during these unprecedented times. COVID Reporting-Mr. Janofa, Superintendent ¥ ? GovernorÕs Mandate Ð Mr. Janofa explained that an all call went out last week in response to the most recent Governor mandate. School districts must notify parents of any positive cases and notify the Health Department within 24 hours. The district is Working on an email stream if this should happen with Final Forms. As of today, no positive cases have been reported in the district. It is highly recommended that parents provide the district any pertinent information as soon as possible in order for contact tracing to begin as soon as possible. FOOD SERVICE-Mrs. Roemer, Nutrition Group ¥ ? Lunch Count Update Ð Mrs. Roemer and Mrs. Cassudakis from the Nutrition Group updated the Board on breakfast and lunch participation. They reported that breakfast and lunches are being delivered to the classrooms. Ala carte items are currently not an option. ¥ ? USDA Free Lunch Program Ð An all call went out last week to all parents informing parents about the USDA Free Lunch Program. All students are eligible to eat for free under this program until December 31, 2020. Any questions regarding breakfast and/or lunch should be directed to Mrs. Roemer by calling the school or emailing mroemer@polandschools.org. DISCUSSION: Janet Muntean, Treasurer ¥ ? Future Track Resurfacing/Turf Replacement Options Ð Treasurer Muntean presented different options to the Board as a pro-active approach in planning for future Track Resurfacing and Turf Replacement. ¥ ? Coronavirus Relief Funding Update Ð Treasurer Muntean updated the Board on the various Coronavirus Relief Funds, along with district allocations, award periods, and uses. The data presented is as follows: 1. 1) ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund) Ð Fund #507 - $130,691.32 Award Period Ð March 13, 2020 Ð June 30, 2021 Poland LSD ( $114,985.65) Holy Family ($15,705.67) ** Clevertouch Interactive Whiteboards Chromebooks Thermal Temperature Scanners Electro Static Guns **September 10, 2020 Ð USDOE published an Interim Final Rule (IFR) regarding equitable servicesÉ..IFR is no longer in effect! Any Board member wishing to be registered for the Virtual conference should email Superintendent Janofa, Treasurer Muntean, or Mrs. Fetherolf. At 6:54 p.m., Mr. Polis moved and Ms. Colucci seconded with all members present signaling aye to enter into executive session to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal of a public employee or official. Reconvene to Regular Session and Adjourn At 9:40 p.m., Mr. Polis moved and Dr. Dinopoulos seconded with all members voting aye to reconvene the work session and adjourn the meeting.
