Regular Meeting Poland Board of Education held February 22, 2021 The Regular meeting of the Poland Board of Education was held on Monday, February 22, 2021, at 6:00 p.m., in the Dobbins Board Room, 3030 Dobbins Road, Poland, Ohio 44514 President, Mr. Riddle called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Members present for roll call and answering their names were Ms. Colucci, Dr. Dinopoulos, Mr. Polis, Mr. Riddle, and Mr. Warren. Thomas Pavlansky- Head Varsity Football Coach Approval of FY22 Dual Credit Program with Eastern Gateway Ð Resolution- #2021-18 Mr. Polis moved and Mr. Warren seconded with all members present voting aye to approve the 2021-2022 Dual Credit Program Memorandum of Understanding with Eastern Gateway Community College and Poland Schools for students in high school to enroll in college-level courses on a full or part time basis to simultaneously earn credit toward high school graduation and a postsecondary degree or certificate. Approval of ACCESS Contract for Internet Services for FY22 Ð Resolution #2021-19 Ms. Colucci move and Dr. Dinopoulos seconded with all members present voting aye to approve the agreement between the Poland School District and ACCESS for Internet Access Services for Fiscal year 2022. #2022-C-015. Approval of ACCESS Contract for Application Services for FY22 Ð Resolution #2021-20 Mr. Warren moved and Mr. Polis seconded with all members present voting aye to approve the agreement between the Poland School District and ACCESS for Application Services for Fiscal year 2022. #2022-A-015. Approval of Stipend in Preparation of Pre-School Re-opening Ð Resolution #2021-21 Mr. Polis moved and Mr. Warren seconded with all members present voting aye to approve a stipend to Michael Masucci of $5,000.00 for preparation of re-opening pre-school for the 2021-2022 school year. Stipend to be paid out of General Fund. Motion passed 5-0. Approval to Participate in Ohio School Council Bus Bidding Ð Resolution #2021-22 Dr. Dinopoulos moved and Mr. Polis seconded with all members present voting aye to approve a resolution with Ohio Schools Council Cooperative to advertise and receive bids for the purchase of one (1) - 2021 conventional (71 passenger) school bus and one (1) conventional (9 passenger) van. Motion passed 5-0. WHEREAS, the Poland Local Schools Board of Education wishes to advertise and receive bids for the purchase of one (1) - 2021 conventional (71 passenger) school bus and one (1) conventional (9 passenger) van. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Poland Schools Board of Education wishes to participate and authorizes the Ohio Schools Council to advertise and receive bids on behalf of said Board as per the specifications submitted for the cooperative purchase of one (1) - 2021 conventional (71 passenger) school bus and one (1) conventional (9 passenger) van. Coach Blanch Ð 200th Career Win Coach Grisdale Ð 500th Career Win INFORMATIONAL ITEMS - None REPORTS/PRESENTATIONS Foundation Liaison Ð Mr. Polis reported the Foundations last meeting was February 1, 2021. They are in the process of changing the website and working on membership. A raffle is being planned for a fundraiser. Legislation Liaison Ð Mr. Riddle reported on the following: - HB2 Ð Broadband expansion program. - SB 22 Ð Establish health advisory committee public health orders. - HB110 Ð Operating appropriations for FY22/FY23 biennium budget. - HB67 Ð Waives state testing requirements. - SB19 Ð Property tax exemption for wetlands. - SB57 Ð Exemption for charitable organizations. - SB18 Ð Internal revenue code adjusted gross income that impacts school levy taxes. Student Achievement Liaison Ð Dr. Dinopoulos reported on the remote learning impact on student learning Ð Is there a lag? The district is developing a plan to develop strategies using MAP system. Juniors are getting ready to take ACT. As we collect more data, we will be proactive in identifying which areas need addressed. Overall, we continue to maintain consistent growth in the midst of COVID19. A third data point will be added after spring testing. Mr. Zura stated that fifty-two (52) were in attendance virtually. At 6:49 p.m., Mr. Polis moved and Ms. Colucci seconded with all members present signaling aye to enter into executive session to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal of a public employee or official.
