Board of Directors Meeting

Tuesday, December 3, 2002, 7:30 p.m.

The Board of Directors of Kutztown Area School District met for the workshop board meeting on Tuesday,

December 3, 2002, 7:30 p.m., in the Maxatawny Elementary School Multi-purpose room pursuant to due notice to board members and the public.

Present Patricia Bealer, James Kramer, Donald Meyers, Don Vymazal, William Yurvati,

Carl Ziegler

Absent Kent Dahlquist, Dale Reppert, Dennis Ritter, Lynn Nonnemacher

Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by President Vymazal

Welcome President Vymazal welcomed guests and opened the meeting with a moment of silence and

Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. He asked that everyone sign the attendance book and mark their concern next to their name. He requested that anyone wishing to speak on an agenda item please raise his/her hand to be recognized.

First Reading Motion made by William Yurvati, seconded by Patricia Bealer to approve the first reading

Policy #006 of attached revised policy #006 – Meetings

Student Trip Motion made by Carl Ziegler, seconded by Patricia Bealer, to approve the proposed student

to Spain trip to Spain on June 16-24, 2003.

Lehigh Valley Motion made by James Kramer, seconded by Donald Meyers to approve the attached Lehigh

PBS Agreement Valley PBS (WLVT) Agreement to be signed when the connections are complete. Lehigh Valley PBS will provide programming at a cost of $.75 per student.

KU Alcohol Motion made by Donald Meyers, seconded by William Yurvati, to agree to conduct the

Survey Kutztown University Alcohol survey with the senior class members.

English as a Motion made by William Yurvati, seconded by Carl Ziegler to approve the following curriculum

Second for English as a Second Language, details of each are attached:

Executive Motion made by James Kramer, seconded by Carl Ziegler, to enter into an executive

Session session to discuss personnel matters at 9:10 p.m.

Motion carried unanimously.

The Board reconvened at 9:29 p.m.

Personnel Motion made by Kent Dahlquist, seconded by Dennis Ritter, to approve the following

personnel items 1, 2, 4 & 5:

1. Approval to increase Carol Heppe, Reading Specialist/Academic Support Teacher from

.5 to .53 teacher effective December 4, 2002 due to a recalculation of instructional time.

2. Acceptance of the resignation of Dori Zingley, nurse’s aide, effective November 22, 2002.

4. Approval of the following individuals as substitute teachers effective December 4, 2002

for School Year 2002-2003 at the current substitute teacher rate:

Michelle Krause Elementary Ed. Bloomsburg Univ.
